Lifesaving Care Close to Home: A Patient Story

Dr. Alan Hise on the Power of Interventional Radiology

In a special segment on 9News’ Healthy Colorado, Dr. Alan Hise offers a compelling look into the field of interventional radiology—a medical specialty that uses advanced imaging and minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. He explains how interventional radiologists play a critical role in cancer diagnosis and treatment, vascular health, infection management, and trauma care.

Dr. Hise highlights pulmonary artery thrombectomy, a lifesaving procedure used to remove dangerous blood clots that travel from the legs to the lungs. He also discusses the specialty’s unique ability to locate and stop internal bleeding following trauma—injuries that aren’t visible to the naked eye but can be rapidly identified and treated using real-time imaging.

What draws Dr. Hise to the specialty, he shares, is the opportunity to meet patients at critical moments, deliver immediate relief, and support long-term healing—all with a patient-first approach that defines the future of healthcare.

Although this interview took place before the founding of Colorado Advanced Endovascular, Dr. Hise’s expertise and compassion continue to guide our mission to deliver advanced, minimally invasive care across the Front Range.
